Allergies are no fun for anyone, pets included! In this week’s newsletter we cover signs to look for, as well as introducing many of the tools Dr. Paterson may use in helping your pet cope with their allergies. It is important to note: “You have to be realistic up front…the thing about allergies is that you do not cure them, you manage them.” Dr. Taylor Truitt. We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. As frustrating as they are, they are not curable. But with the many advances in today’s medicine, we can make their lives, and ours, much more peaceful.

Hill’s® Prescription Diet® Derm Defense™ Canine – dry

There are many types of environmental irritants that surround us and our pets each and every day including fleas, pollen and even the dust in our homes.  For some dogs these irritants can cause a skin condition that may lead to scratching, sometimes excessively. This is unpleasant for your dog and can also be difficult for everyone else in the family. The good news is most dogs with these skin conditions can benefit simply from the right food.

Hill’s nutritionists and veterinarians developed Prescription Diet® Derm Defense™ clinical nutrition specially formulated to help manage environmental sensitivities in dogs.

WHAT IS APOQUEL?

APOQUEL is a revolutionary dog allergy medicine that goes right to the source of itch to provide relief. APOQUEL is prescribed by your veterinarian to control itch and stop inflammation associated with allergic or atopic dermatitis in dogs 12 months and older.

An occasional itch may be quite normal, but it should never interrupt activities, cause hair loss, or lead to skin damage. Frequent or constant scratching, licking, biting, scooting, and/or rubbing are most often signs of allergic skin disease.
